Dear Vincentian students,

We hope this email finds you well. Thank you for reaching out and expressing your concerns regarding the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It deeply saddens us to hear about the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and particularly how it has affected our Vincentian students and their families. We will do our utmost to assist Vincentian students and their families during this difficult time.

Regarding our support for students from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, we have already sent emails informing them that National Dong Hwa University has an emergency assistance mechanism. Our school website (https://rb005.ndhu.edu.tw/p/406-1005-165401,r4981.php) provides application forms for students, and you can also view attachments. We hope this will be helpful for them during this challenging period. Any student in need of support can apply for it and approach us without hesitation.

In response to the fundraising activities you mentioned, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs promptly donated US$200,000 to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at very first opportunity (https://en.mofa.gov.tw/News_Content.aspx?n=1329&s=117650).

Additionally, we have reviewed the relevant regulations. (Please see the details at the following website: https://law.moj.gov.tw/ENG/LawClass/LawAll.aspx?pcode=D0050138) It is clear that direct fundraising efforts by the university might face challenges in terms of compliance and timeliness. However, we are fully supportive of exploring alternative avenues. We believe it would be beneficial to engage the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the possibility of establishing a nationwide donation account under their auspices.

Moreover, National Dong Hwa University will take the initiative to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs promptly to explore this option further. Leveraging their expertise and resources will enable us to mobilize support efficiently for the recovery efforts in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. With their assistance, we can make a meaningful impact in assisting our Vincentian students and their families.

Thank you once again for bringing this important matter to our attention and for your dedication to supporting our community members in need. If you have any additional information or suggestions, please do not hesitate to share them.
