Guest Receptionist

Foreign Guest Reception Student Ambassador Program

The Foreign Guest Reception Student Ambassadors will assist the Office of International Affairs (OIA) in hosting international guests. Approximately 20 students will be selected and trained by the OIA. Upon completion of the training program, ambassadors will participate in various guest reception activities, helping international visitors gain a deeper understanding of the unique geographical features of Eastern Taiwan, local culture, the university’s environment and characteristics, as well as campus life. Through this engagement, students will also broaden their global perspective, strengthen international communication skills, and contribute to the development of a globally friendly campus.

Reception Responsibilities:

  1. Campus Tour: Guide international visitors around the campus, introducing campus facilities and sharing personal academic experiences at the university.
  2. Exchange Meetings: Assist with the setup and operation of equipment, provide on-site support, and help with guest reception during meetings and academic exchanges.
  3. Cultural Visits: Accompany international visitors to explore the cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and diverse cultures of Hualien, offering insights into the local history and community.

Reception Schedule and Procedures:

  1. Reception duties are primarily scheduled during the university’s official working hours (08:00 – 17:00).
  2. All student participants will be notified one week in advance of each reception task, including details of the assignment and schedule.
  3. Reception tasks follow a sign-up system. Participants are selected based on the order of registration until the required number of personnel is reached.
  4. Prior to the reception, students assist in event preparation, venue setup, and organizing promotional materials and gifts.
  5. During the reception, students are responsible for their assigned duties, are expected to interact with guests in a friendly and proactive manner, and to support one another as a team.
  6. After the reception, students will provide feedback, assist in post-event organization, and help compile related materials and photos.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Current enrolled students of the university.
  2. TOEIC score of 785 or above, or equivalent to CEFR B2 level; additional certification in a second foreign language is a plus.
  3. Possess qualities such as proactiveness, friendliness, confidence, politeness, and attention to detail.
  4. Basic knowledge of the university’s history, local culture, and aspects of daily life (e.g., food, housing, transportation) is preferred.
