- Our school provides subsidies for students to purchase round-trip economy class direct flights from Taiwan to the exchange country/city. If the purchased ticket includes a transfer point, it must be shown on the same ticket (with the same ticket number) and the transfer time must be within 24 hours.
- If the airline only provides an electronic boarding pass, please print it out and sign it personally as proof when verifying it.
- The flight ticket subsidy project is for round-trip economy class direct flights. Please provide relevant documents and accompanying files for the round-trip itinerary. Single trip documents or insufficient supporting documents will not be subsidized.
Application Eligibility

You may apply as long as you’d be enrolled in NDHU for at least one year upon departure. Submit your transcript from the previous institute for the application.

No, it’s required to provide language certification when applying for the verification of the eligibility to apply to partner university during the internal (NDHU) review.

Any current student may apply to be an exchange student. If you have fulfilled all the credits before going abroad for exchange and have not applied for early graduation, you should confirm with the department whether the department allows you to go abroad without taking the minimum credits. Once confirmed that it’s allowed, you can proceed with the exchange application. However, even if it is determined that no credits are required to be taken during the semester abroad, students shall register and earn passing grades for a minimum of two courses (one of them shall be a specialized course) during the exchange period as per OIA’s regulations, unless the exchange school has other regulations, students are asked to strictly abide by it.

As long as you meet the criteria/eligibility you may apply! But do confirm whether the partner university accept students in the fifth year and above. Students in their final year should ensure that they have fulfilled all the credits required for graduation.

Any current student may apply to be an exchange student. As long as the Master’s student has yet to complete all the thesis procedure, they will not be considered graduated. It is recommended that students confirm and discuss their exchange plans with the department and supervisors before going abroad. After approval by the department and professor, then you may apply. However, even if it is determined that no credits are required to be taken during the semester abroad, students shall register and earn passing grades for a minimum of two courses (one of them shall be a specialized course) during the exchange period as per OIA’s regulations, unless the exchange school has other regulations, students are asked to strictly abide by it.

Any current student may apply to be an exchange student, with no differences is application methods. Students without R.O.C. nationality aren’t allowed to apply to universities in their country of origin.
Application System/Requirements

The list of partner universities will be adjusted every year due to the situation of the partner university and the cooperation between both universities. The same university might not be open for application each year.

NDHU has no restrictions on the exchange department, students can choose on their own, but it is recommended that students choose an exchange university/department that matches their major when applying for an exchange. If you choose a university/department in a different field from your major, the exchange school will consider whether the ability of the students are aligned with the courses, and the possibility of not being accepted is higher.

Please check the name of the exchange department or program on the partner university’s website. Except for filling it out in Chinese for universities in China, Hongkong and Macao, please fill it out in English.

Yes, selecting different semesters are counted as two priorities.

The language proficiency requirements are only the basic standard, we recommend you to increase your language skills to prepare yourself for the study and life abroad.

Starting from 2022, NDHU internal selection procedure has been simplified, there is no interview session.

Before Departure

Students aren’t allowed to change or defer.

Please confirm your acceptance of the recommendation upon the announcement of the internal list, do consider it carefully before filling up the form. Upon confirming, you will be nominated to the partner university; if you reject, it might affect the partnership between both universities and opportunities for other students in the future.

Only if the partner university/country does not open for entry will it be allowed to retain the recommendation, it is not acceptable if it’s due to personal reasons.

If you have been accepted by the partner university for exchange, OIA will assist you to apply for an exit permit.

During Exchange
A:
Most universities that are in non-English speaking countries offer courses in English. If your language proficiency meet the standards, you may also choose the courses taught in their native language.

No, students shall sign up for courses in accordance with the rules and regulations of the partner university during exchange period. Where no applicable regulations exist, students shall take and earn passing grades for a minimum of two courses (one of them shall be a specialized course). Failure to meet these regulations shall be construed as unsuccessful completion of the exchange program. Students who fail to meet these requirements shall not be eligible to request subsidies and receive an exchange certificate.

Most partner universities offer dormitory application; if not, they will also offer assistance in finding accommodation.

Some universities offer buddy programs to assist you in adapting, but not all universities do.

The lifestyle and plans for each person are different, we recommend you to do a research and estimate on your own.
You still hold a student status during exchange period (not allowed to suspend and must register & pay for tuition, but not required to choose courses). Upon returning to NDHU, you may go to the Registry Division to apply for credit transfer and other procedures.
About Subsidies
A:
If due to personal itineraries or other reasons, including:
-Purchasing tickets separately (with different ticket numbers)
-Taking other cabin classes such as premium economy class, business class, etc
-Starting and ending points of the itinerary is not Taiwan or the exchange country/city, etc
-Transfer time exceeding 24 hours
The following documents must be submitted when handling the return verification procedures:
-Relevant documents of the actual itinerary
-On the day of purchasing the ticket, check the round-trip ticket price (including the transfer point) from Taiwan to the exchange country/city on the website on the same date. Print the information pages (including the website name/URL, not in screenshot form) and sign it personally as proof of search time. (An attachment is provided as an example for reference)
After Returning to Taiwan
A:
Yes, you may, but whether the credits could be transferred are subject to review and approval by the home department/institute/general education center and the Office of Academic Affairs. If you’d like to know whether a course could be transferred, you need to inquire before departure/course selection.

No, you need to return and complete the necessary procedures and submit the required documents before graduation.
A:
There is no need to wait and you can proceed directly. However, the subsidy will not be fully verified and disbursed until the exchange transcript is confirmed.
